“Since the fall of 1997, a group of about 12 women has been meeting to discuss books, always on Monday nights. Some members have come and gone (like one of our founders, Sue Perlgut), some have gone and returned (like another of our founders, Robin Schwartz). Some have been part of the group for decades, while others have joined recently. We are probably one of the few book clubs with bylaws, and we don't drink (that much) wine—but we're all avid readers and read a wide range of books together. We meet up every other month to discuss the book at hand, at members' homes all around Tompkins County. We have found that the best discussions come when we have different opinions, and that our discussions deepen our appreciation of the books we read—even those that some of us didn't love. Over the years, we've supported each other through some sad times and lots of happy times. The members of the Monday Night Book Club look forward to turning many more pages together! ”
