“The bridge. When we moved here in 2013 it was still intact. A summer storm in 2014 knocked it down. It made us feel more connected to this lot. Something big happened while we were here. My husband doesn’t want to take down the ruins. They allow appreciation and a daily reminder of times gone by. The old timers in Newfield remember crossing this bridge by car. Newfield is known for its Covered Bridge and the King Bridge at Mill Park. This bridge was also made by King Bowstring Iron Bridge Company, but has fallen. It’s an everyday testament to the way the people here have changed their relationship with the land over time.”
