“Water, playing in it, being on it, has always been central to my life. Dad chose our home as it was less than a mile from the lake and we had our own private gorge out back where I spent endless hours playing. We also had 5 summers in the 'dacks’ as kids on a lake where my parents worked and we had unlimited access to the water. Cayuga means so much as it's nearby. I formed the Kayak Safety Team for both Women Swimmin' as well as the Cayuga Lake Triathlon as a way to be on the water more and to get more people involved in kayak safety....a way to give back to the community. I started these two teams 16 years ago and stil head up the WS team while someone else has taken over the tri's team. I feel strongly we all need to find a way to give back to our communities or to pay it forward. I also kayak guided in Antarctica off an eco tourism cruise ship for 14 years as another way to be closer to the water. It's my spiritual refresher..”
