The trees that occupy the hillside behind my house have been alive longer than I have. They are phenomenally messy, dropping cones, leaf litter, dead wood, and even collapsing entirely. To garden and live amongst them requires a lot of daily work, but I find it worth it when I look up and admire their resilience through several human families and generations who have occupied my home. Forest Home was founded on alternative energy, and I have tried to equip my old home with as many alternative energy upgrades as I can afford. The spirit of the place inspires me.
